Who Am I?
Anjil was born in Peace River, Alberta, a small town in northern Canada. A lover of books and naps from the time she was little, Anjil read anything that she could get her hands on, from R.L. Stine and Aldous Huxley to Robert Heinlein, Margaret Atwood, and everything in between. She grew up listening to her father’s stories of life in the Middle East, and to her mother’s stories of coming of age in Ontario in the 60’s, tales which have inspired her own love of storytelling.
After finishing high school Anjil traveled and worked odd jobs, picking weeds in a tree plantation and fruit in orchards, working in a liquor store, and slicing vegetables and making dough in a mom and pop pizza shop for three whole days. The years that she worked as a server and bartender provided her with the opportunity to meet many amazing people and to listen to their stories. These are the people that helped form who she is and who have inspired many of the characters and ideas in her writing.
Over the years since Anjil has moved about, working, napping, and studying at several universities across Canada. Along the way she has earned a Bachelor’s of Social Work from the University of Victoria and a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Alberta. Currently she is living and working as a social worker in her sleepy hometown of Peace River. Anjil spends her free time writing, tending to her backyard chickens, and daydreaming about the time she can quit her job and focus on her true love—napping…I mean, writing.
